What is the difference between Ocean Villa and Lagoon Villa?

Well, the ocean is deep and the lagoon is shallow. And that’s kind of it. As a conclusion, the only difference between an ocean villa and a lagoon villa is the depth of the water. And the view, yes.

The lagoon villas are typically located on shallow waters. But, be careful, as shallow water doesn’t necessarily mean that you can stand straight in it and not be submerged in water.
These villas open up to a turquoise colored lagoon, which you can access via stairs or by simply taking a jump.

On the other hand, ocean villas are open to the ocean, with considerable water depths. You have to take in concern the tides, as the water slowly rises and being a good swimmer is a plus!

How safe are water villas in Maldives Resorts?

If you worry that you’ll get swept away with the first wave, then don’t be. The overwater villas are sturdy and safe. They are built respecting safety standards, so you won’t even feel the waves while inside – just hear them.

The construction pillars are deeply rooted in the sand, making these villas safe as houses on land. They are anchored so that they will not float away.

Although the construction is safe, I can’t say the same for the slippery steps. You might want to pay extra attention while diving in the water or climbing back up. This is one of the main reasons children are not usually allowed to stay in Maldives resorts on water. And if they are, they would require supervision while staying there.

If you’re also wondering about the noise, you’ll be pleased to know that there is absolutely no noise from the neighbors. The villas on water are so well built, that you’ll only be hearing the calming ocean.

Is it worth staying in a villa on water in the Maldives Resorts?

Short answer: yes! If you’re someone looking to relax, values privacy and wants to enjoy a great view, then these water villas in the Maldives will be perfect. You’ll get a nice tan without even leaving your “hotel room”. How awesome is that?

Snorkeling is just a couple of meters away from your bedroom, and sea turtles might just join.

Ordering room service and taking your meal on the deck with a superb view is something I guess we all aspire to. So, if you ever get the chance to stay in an overwater villa in the Maldives resorts, then you best take it. You don’t want to be that person who just stares at the villas just wishing they would be there.
