Black Sea Rama or BlackSeaRama Golf and Villas is a surprisingly great place in Balchik, Bulgaria. It’s surprising because you wouldn’t expect it to be so large, considering the location.
Balchik is very well known for Queen Mary’s castle and the Gardens, but not so much for its golf courses. That’s because there aren’t that many. Besides Black Sea Rama, you’ll only find the Lighthouse and Thracian Cliffs Golf course. But, don’t you worry, as if you decide to book your stay there, it’s going to be just great. The views these courses offer are just delightful and golfing is fabulous!
To start off, we’d like to let you know we wanted a location where we could relax with some friends: make a barbecue, listed to some music and chill with a glass of wine. We were looking for something tranquil, where we wouldn’t be bothered and nobody would be bothered by us. And we found Black Sea Rama on Booking and just fell in love with those views!
We actually ended up booking a private villa inside the resort. We had no idea that Black Sea Rama has their own villas for renting and that what we booked was not theirs. We later found out at the resort, when we went to check in. The guy told us we were using a privately owned villa, after we provided him with the villa number. He gave us a map of the resort so we’d know where the villa was located. The door would be unlocked and the keys inside. And that was it.
After arriving at the villa, we were kind of waiting for someone to greet us. There wasn’t anyone there. We had the whole place for ourselves to enjoy and nobody to ask us a thing. We didn’t have any interaction with the owners for our whole stay. When we left, we just texted them a good bye message.
To start off, the first thing I would say about this villa is that is was clean and I loved that. Everything was well taken care of, some details in the ornaments made things stand out with a delicate twist, and it had a refined elegance to it. You will find below a full video of the location.

The villa in Black Sea Rama had all we needed: fully equipped kitchen with dish washer, a big dining place, lots of space in the bedrooms, three bathrooms, a big back yard with a pool, an outstanding view for a breakfast or dinner for two, parking space and a quiet neighborhood.
We didn’t use the pool as we went there in April and it was a bit cold to make a splash, but we did enjoy the sunbeds. The pool was covered, but if you’re going there in the Summer, then it’s a treat!
If you have small children, it’s best not to leave them unattended. Although the view is superb, the villa is located on a cliff so you should keep your eyes open for trouble. They do have a small space for children to play in, a swing and lots of room to run around, but as it’s open to the cliff side, children should be supervised.
We did have some neighbors at one point of our stay, but the garden has a curtain of trees planted, so the noise is blocked well, and it is not something that bothers you. We had a portable speaker which we used outside near the grill, but you wouldn’t hear the music if you took a few steps away. It was just perfect.
Black Sea Rama Golf and Villas – What Can You Do
If you love the outdoor and sports, then this is a great option for a vacation. It’s like a mini village, with accommodation, places to eat and have a bit of fun. The resort has a gate with a guard and barriers. Each time you would go in and out, someone would lift the barrier for you. We didn’t see any other security around, but there must have been.
The Black Sea Rama has places like a mini football field, a tennis academy, kids club, a driving range and many more. You have restaurants to eat, a pro shop for golfers, amphitheater and an eco garden. It’s all a vast green landscape, with beautiful country architecture, but it feels posh. We also saw some ducks running around, which made the place feel welcoming and a bit eccentric.
Where Can You Eat and Dine
To start off, we’ll tell you we did not eat in any of the locations listed below, but that doesn’t mean we haven’t read the reviews online. Most of the customers love the food, but some say the staff is not that welcoming – although, that might have changed.
Clubhouse Bistro
This place prides itself with food being served from their Eco Garden, prepared with seasonal and organic vegetables. You can pair the food with a delicate wine and a good chat. The bistro offers a great view of the 18th golf hole, and a direct sea view from the terrace.
Wine Cellar
If you’re keen to explore the flavor of Bulgaria, then this cellar has fine local wines and liquors that will delight your tastebuds. You’ll find it at the Clubhouse of Black Sea Rama and you’ll surely have something to choose from all the natural and organically produced wines.
The wine cellar is designed in a cave style and it has only 10 seats, making this feast private and indulging. Perfect for demanding clients!
Steak House
If you love your steak, then you’ll surely be dining here, at least once. It is said they serve one of the best beefs in the region and you’ll also get a magnificent view of the Black Sea. Couple those two and you’ll get a perfect meal.
Lake Taverna
This is one venue you’ll want to visit if you fancy Mediterranean fand Balkan food. Fresh, fish, fresh meat and fresh vegetables will await you. While you can choose to dine inside for a private dinner, you can also warm up in Spring outside, next to the barbecue. You won’t leave this place starving, for sure.
La Campana
Is pizza something you crave for? La Campana pizzeria invites you to taste the Italian pasta and pizza, a light tasty salad or maybe something sweet to go with your afternoon coffee. It’s good to note that this pizzeria is only open from May to September, on Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays, from 11:00 to 22:00. Enjoy the sea view from the terrace on the second floor and a great pizza!
Marea Asia Bar
You wouldn’t expect to find an Asian menu on the premises, but on the second floor of the Clubhouse, you’ll find just that. From late May, Saturday to Wednesday, Marea Asia Bar opens it’s doors to customers that love sushi and seafood. You can eat there starting with 12:30 until 22:30. Enjoy!
Activities At Black Sea Rama Golf and Villas
There are lots of things grownups can do here, but it’s also kids friendly. You can plan a short vacation here with your friends, family or even solo, as you will surely enjoy every minute of it.
Kids Club
If you’re travelling with your small children, then you’ll be pleased to know they have their own area to play. Just take them to the kids club and let them be creative with others their own age.
Wellness Center
Go pamper yourself at Black Sea Rama in their wellness center. It’s perfect if you want to enjoy a relaxing massage and perfect both your body and mind. After a long day of playing or visiting the nearby attractions, this SPA will simply delight you with therapies, performed by specialized therapists.
You’ll find it in the Bell tower, in a building next to La Campana.
Tennis Academy
Do you love playing tennis? Or you’re maybe just thinking of starting to play. Well, you’re in luck as you’ll find two professional hard courts here, at your disposal. Tennis lessons are also available for you to book, with professional instructors.
You’ll find the Tennis Academy behind the Sports Center, just to your left when entering the location.
Sports Center
This is more of a fitness area, where you can do some cardio or weight lifting. It’s perfect if the weather outside is not so friendly but you still want to work out.
Mini Football Field
When I say mini, I mean it. This football field is more of a junior sized field, but it’s great for practice if you’re an adult, too. You can have a blast with your kids or even senior friends, as there’s not that much room to run around. Although it’s kind of small, it’s perfect for an outdoor activity!
Driving Range
Yes, they have a driving rage at Black Sea Rama that can fit up to sixty people at a time. There are no synthetic mats used and it can be used from both sides. There are three practice greens and two bunkers where you can practice your golfing skills. From what we’ve seen, it’s well maintained and worth trying out.
Golf Academy
The establishment wouldn’t be complete without an academy dedicated to golfing. They promise to not spare any effort in teaching you how to play this magnificent game: from basic rules to full swing, they will teach you techniques and even provide you mental training to make a top player out of anyone. If you didn’t love golf before this training, you’ll be addicted after finishing.
