Poiana Brasov is actually a very popular ski resort, preferred not only by locals, but by foreign visitors as well. It’s located near Brasov – a Gothic – Romantic and Art Nouveau mix of beautiful facades and interiors.
Once you reach Poiana Brasov, take a few moments to enjoy the breathtaking views. You will surely be impressed by this winter landscape!
Poiana Brasov is one of the best ski resorts in Romania, not only because it has 7 slopes, but also because they range from a light difficulty to medium and hard. The slopes are also great for snowboarding, tubing, snowmobiles and paragliding!
Ski slopes in Poiana Brasov
If you’re a skilled skier, then Lupului slope comes with 2860 m of snow and it’s perfect for a quick adrenaline rush.
Sulinar is a medium difficulty slope, but you can still ski about 2500 m in length. There’s also Drumul Rosu, an easy dive, where you can ski 4600 m away!
You’ll also find some smaller slopes, if you plan on taking shorter glides: Kanzel is a 450 m hard slope, while Bradul and Stadion are only 465 and 325 m, but a delight for beginners!
The ski slopes are served by: 2 cables Capra Neagra and Kanzel, a gondola, five ski lifts and two chairlifts.

How much does it cost to ski in Poiana Brasov
Although Poiana Brasov is one of the most expensive ski resorts in Romania, don’t overthink it. Prices are not that high as you would expect, they are actually quite affordable.
A ski pass for one day would be 150 Lei. That means that you will pay roughly $38 USD for an adult and $22 USD for a child. If you’re planning on spending more than just one day, you’ll be pleased to know that you can pay up to 10 days per season (consecutive or not) or 20 hours per season.
A ride with the cable for adults is $6.5 USD (up or down) and $8.8 USD if you plan on going up and down. For children it’s cheaper: $3 USD for just one ride and $5 USD for going both ways.

Straja – One of the most beautiful Ski Resorts in Romania
If you’re an avid snow sports consumer, then these 12 slopes are ideal for you! Each of them is equipped with cable transportation to make your experience easier and more pleasant.
You’ll be also pleased to know that five of the slopes also have a nocturne, if you fancy a swing below the lighted sky.
Due to the construction of the gondola and ski lift on the Straja peak, there’s an 8.1 Km long slope that you will surely enjoy! We’ve also summed up the slopes in Straja so you could see which one is the best for you. Oh, don’t worry, there’s plenty to choose from!

Canal slope is also used for snowboarding and it’s open until late April, with no artificial snow. It has a difference of level of about 180 m.
On Tuesdays the chairlifts and gondola are closed for revision. The gondola is closed all day long and the chairlifts work alternatively, with a 2h revision. Don’t worry, ski lifts work as usual.
Ski prices in Straja
Straja is not one of those ski resorts in Romania that are pricey. Compared to Poiana Brasov, it’s actually less expensive, though you will see that the conditions also differ a bit.
Before jumping into prices and comparisons, you should know the following:
- the ski pass per day are available from 9am to 21 pm
- ski lifts charge 2 points from your ski card
- chair lifts charge 3 points from your ski card
- the availability of the days from your card don’t need to be consecutive
- children under 6 years of age accompanied by parents get a free pass
- the ski pass is individual
- in case of bad weather, the money is not refunded
- warranty for one ski pass is $2.5 USD
- the cables work only with a minimum of 15 people
- the one day ski pass, 4 hours ski pass is only available that day

Usually, the ski season in Straja starts in December, but there have been times when it even started in late November.

Although the ski slopes are located in Straja, you can easily find a place to sleep in nearby Lupeni or even in the small town of Petrosani.
