Mawsynram comes from Maw, which in Khasi means “stone”. That’s not arbitrary, because the area is surrounded by megaliths.
But one of the most fascinating things in the area is not the rock formations, but rather the living bridges that connect the valleys. These bridges were made by locals, by tying up the roots of the trees and having them grow as natural bridges.
